Gibraltar Airport
Gibraltar’s airport, once intersected by the city’s main road, posed serious safety and congestion challenges. To eliminate the risk of runway-roadway conflicts and improve traffic flow, a new tunnel was constructed beneath the airport. We were commissioned to deliver a Control and Monitoring System (CMS) to manage and monitor the tunnel’s critical infrastructure.
Our CMS integrates multiple subsystems such as CCTV, Automatic Incident Detection, Over Height Detection, and a tunnel ventilation system—into a unified SCADA platform. Designed for clarity and efficiency, the system presents real-time data and alarms in an intuitive format, enabling operators to respond swiftly to incidents.
Beyond monitoring, the system provides full operational control. Traffic management tools coordinate signs, signals, barriers, and detection systems to enforce dynamic traffic plans and ensure commuter safety.
