Birmingham - Clear Air Zone
Birmingham City had 3.66 billion vehicle miles travelled on the roads in 2024, reflective of the reasoning behind Birmingham City Councils introduction of a clean air zone to lower the cities emissions and improve air quality.
Informing the public of these new restrictions required a variety of messaging, starting with Variable Messaging Signs that inform drivers on the roads. This project came with tight deadlines, and regular developments in the project’s progression.
Our Variable Messaging Signs utilise features that ensure the signs perform optimally in varying weather conditions. Error detection software reduces the downtime to fix faults, whilst an internal control system allows the sign to adjust its brightness based on the external conditions.
We have successfully delivered a reliable signage system that is clear and easy to read for drivers, increasing awareness of the new restrictions.
